Two roads to Herceg Novi

The direct road follows the bay through Kotor, Perast, Risan and Morinj — 110 km, about 1 h 50, and beautiful the whole way.

The shortcut uses the Kamenari–Lepetane ferry across the Verige narrows, cutting roughly 25 km. The ferry runs every 15 minutes around the clock and takes five minutes to cross. In August, though, the queue at Lepetane can be longer than the drive it saves, so the driver decides on the day. Either way the ferry ticket is included in the price you were quoted.
